Ms. Sandie Blanchet speaks on Child Rights

Ms. Sandie Blanchet, a french, from Unicef, working in India from the past 3 years. She choose to speak about Convention on Child Rights and Children in Armed Conflict. Her approach was participatory so she made three groups of participants and asked them to find out the rights of child maintained in the CRC which were jeopandized during armed conflict. Each group presented its work, generally the articles mentioned were those which covered right to life, education, health and safety of the child.

She spoke about how children were being harmed in areas of armed conflicts. Sri Lanka, Sierra Lieon, Sudan etc. were coutries where soldire as old as 7 years were being used by various terrorist and militant organisation in the promotion of child rights, various promotional programmes etc.

Again the whole group was divided into three groups and each was given a task of imagining them themselves to be a NGO working in

Each group had to present their NGO's role in promoting Child rights, how would they go about it, whom all would they involves what methodology they will adopt etc. After each presentation she discussed the flaws and gave suggestions to improve.
