ROLE
PRAGATI is determined at changing the nature and direction of the![]() systemic
forces that marginalize women and other disadvantaged groups. The group
believes that this can only become a reality if a sustainable process of
redefinition and redistribution of power, coupled with gender equity is
ushered in. It intends to firstly meet the urgent need of equipping the
Elected women representatives with the requisite functional knowledge,
information about planning and implementation of development work, which is
necessary for them to become decision-makers in the true sense.
Realizing the potent tool of transparency, accountability and participation as
the essence of democratic decentralization, PRAGATI works towards building
transformative women leadership and citizenship.
The idea is to build an alert, informed and active electorate that
acknowledges its entitlements and responsibilities and at the same time
nurture informed and receptive women leaders towards achieving equitable
development through grassroots democracy.
