The Adult Education Programme endeavors to remove illiteracy and impart knowledge to the people in the age group 15-35 of our country. Experience gained by the Ministry over a time - reflects that literacy only becomes meaningful if converged with livelihood and subsistence of individuals.
With this perspective, Jan Shikshan Sansthan established through out the country, consequently proving to be one of the best vocational institutes for empowering the marginalised community.
In this sequence, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India entrusted Rural Litigation & Entitlement Kendra with the task of establishing JSS in Bageshwar District of Uttaranchal.
The objective of JSS is to provide occupation skills and technical knowledge to the neo-literates of the region with special focus on socio-economically backward and educationally disadvantaged group such as men, women, youths, slum dwellers, migrant etc.
The distinct feature of the JSS is that, the vocational courses that are undertaken are focused keeping the need and the area profile in mind .The resource persons hired for imparting training and conducting these courses are well trained and experienced. In addition to the vocational training, JSS also organises Life Enrichment Education (LEE) Programme like health & Hygiene, Legal Literacy, awareness regarding environment, disaster management etc for the community as a whole. JSS is accomplishing its activities in all the three blocks of Bageshwar.
