Jhangeri Primary school inaugurated
”The government
needs to learn a lesson from the quality of education imparted and the infrastructure available in the RLEK schools, as the government schools are facing an exodus of the students,” MLA Khajan Das lauded Rural Litigation and Entitlement Kendra whilst inaugurating the school in Jhangeri, Jaunpur Block, Tehri District on 16 March 2008. To further the mission of Include the Excluded and Reaching the Unreached this is the 5th school in the Jaunpur Block and 18th in Garhwal region. The elation in the eyes of the community was apparent.
It was a moment of pride for the population of this village which is mainly SC/ST and living below the poverty line. The villagers and the children vivaciously staged a cultural programme, the atmosphere was charged with jubilation. Children, being the future of the nation are the primary concern of the rural population here in Jhangeri, as they had been deprived of basic primary education a fundamental right of each child especially the girl child.
A unique example of people’s partnership where the land was donated by the villagers and the construction of the building financed by Mr. Kenneth White, a resident of England. The MLA further announced the school’s retaining wall to be facilitated by him which was met with appreciation.
Kanta Devi ecstatically said, “My children will now be able to attend school, and hope for a brighter future.”
