Volunteer & Internship programme

With RLEK’s outstanding contribution to the rural sector, volunteers are getting attracted to become a part of RLEK’s intervention. To get firsthand experience and explore the intricacies of rural life, volunteers demanded starting of Volunteer Engagement Program. Every year a minimum 300 students of universities from all over India and the world are given internships. Interns from India are from IITs, TISS, various Law Universities of Bangalore (Karnataka), Jodhpur (Rajasthan), Calcutta (West Bengal), Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Patna (Bihar), Bhubaneswar (Orissa), Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh), Indore (Madhya Pradesh), Mohali (Punjab) etc. and universities from other countries including Cambridge, Melbourne, Michigan and so forth.

RLEK for the past three decades have been working for the marginalized communities on issues such as spreading education, legal literacy, community mobilization, governance, health etc. at the grass root level. This program is designed to train the students on the above issues and also provide them with practical insights and to fill the gap between legality and reality. They are assigned tasks and work under the supervision of professionals. They are also taken on exposure visits to remote areas. There they are made to understand the problems of these people and learn how work is being doneto improve their situation. The contribution of interns at RLEK is as good as 20 full time employees. This way the organization trains the future leaders and judges about the rule of law.

Internship is given for a minimum period of 1 month. RLEK has a fully furnished library with books on various subjects for students to research on, like, the constitution, law, social issues, education, ecology, environment etc. There is also a repertoire of newspapers, national and international magazines, journals and reports to read from.

A full time mess, boarding and lodging facility for outstation students is also available.
